Northern Ireland - Year of Food and Drink 2016 by FoodNI Ltd

Northern Ireland Year of Food and Drink 2016 was a transformative initiative, delivered on a budget of £230K, that repositioned how food and drink in Northern Ireland is perceived. It built upon the natural goodness of the region and connected this to food tours, visitor attractions, restaurants and specialist food and drink events. It focused on the regions natural strengths yet combined these with new flavours. It built confidence from ground level up and turned Northern Ireland into one of the most exciting food regions around. It was an unequalled team effort by industry and government stakeholders with FoodNI at the centre. From farm to plate, and chef to supermarket, hundreds of people came together to work for the common good in creating a compelling message about Northern Ireland as a food and drink destination. Achieving a 23% increase in visitor attitudes, £41M of positive PR for the region, £30Million additional export sales and 11 new food tours.

Today Northern Ireland's food tours, visitor attractions, producers and restaurateurs are going from strength to strength, winning international awards and accreditations. Visitors love our food and we love sharing it with them.
