    What are the International Travel & Tourism Awards?

    Presented by WTM, the International Travel & Tourism Awards are a global platform that recognises and promotes excellence within the travel and tourism industry. Organisations will compete to win these highly coveted Awards, covering key areas in travel and tourism. The Awards offer both big and small organisations, the opportunity to showcase innovation and creativity to the wider world.

    Why should we enter?

    This is your opportunity to show what your business is doing with the chance to be shortlisted and potentially win. WTM will ensure that you receive global recognition through promotion of the Awards. It will serve as a powerful commercial boost for your business, both with your clients and your colleagues, who will be proud to be associated with a world-class organisation.

    Who can enter?

    The Awards are open to everyone who has achieved extraordinary success from innovative and effective work in travel and tourism within the relevant category. Organisations from any country in the world and all sectors can submit entries. Third parties (such as marketing and PR agencies) are also welcome, subject to client approval, where applicable.

    Do I have to exhibit at WTM?

    No. The Awards are judged solely on the merit of their entry.

    Is it worth new or small businesses entering?

    Definitely. The Awards are open to everyone who has achieved extraordinary success from innovative and effective work in travel and tourism within the relevant category, regardless of size or how long they have been in business.

    Can organisations represented by the judges enter?

    Yes, but a judge is not allowed to take part in the judging process for a category into which their organisation has entered.

  • Entries

    How many awards are there?

    There are 15 awards categories open for entry submissions, plus an extra award which is presented on the night and is excluded from self-nomination. They comprise of a Gold and Silver award for each category. Highly Commended awards may also be given where the level of entries is of particularly high quality at the discretion of the judges.

    How do I enter?

    Entries should be submitted in English online at awards.wtm.com/enter

    Are multiple entries okay?

    Yes. You can submit an entry into as many appropriate categories as you like. NB: Make sure to tailor your entry to the relevant category, even if the project being entered is the same, as duplicated entries will be disqualified and will still be charged.

    Which category should I enter?

    Read the Entry Guide to decide which is most appropriate. If you are still unsure, please get in touch with the awards team awards@reedexpo.co.uk

    There is no category that works for my organisation, what should I do?

    Please let us know if this applies, as we may be able to come up with a solution. If we can’t, it is good to know about your business to assist with our planning of future awards.

    Is there a timeframe related to my entry?

    Yes. Entries must cover work conducted during a two-year period from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2018. Research / proof of effects may have occurred after, and work may have been introduced earlier/continued after; but it must have run and had impact during this time. Entries outside of these perimeters may result in disqualification and will still be charged. NB: A major part of the project must have taken place during this timeframe, though it is not vital for the entire project to have been implemented in this period. Projects can be ongoing and if started beforehand then a significant change must have been implemented within the given timeframe.

    Can I submit my entry in any language?

    Online entries must be submitted in English. Support materials are preferred in English. Other languages will be accepted but will not be translated.

    What criteria do we need to meet?

    Criteria for each of the categories are listed in the Entry Guide and online. The judges will want to see proof the entries meet these criteria.

    What supporting material can I submit?

    There are clear guidelines in the Entry Guide. Remember to be selective. Judges will not want to work their way through multiple documents that are many pages long. They particularly like to see validation of any claims made within the entry, especially from a third party.

    What is a third-party stakeholder assessment?

    This is an endorsement from an independent party or client supporting the effectiveness and value of the work, along with stakeholder contact details.

    Is it compulsory to provide a budget?

    No. You can still enter the Awards, but financial information helps the judges with their assessments. This information is treated as confidential and will not be published.

    How long does it take to complete an entry?

    Hard to say, it depends on what information you have to hand. Allow time to complete your entry before the closing date. To ensure your entry is as strong as possible, please read the Entry Guide. You can save your entry and come back and update it online, so you do not need to submit it until you are happy with it.

    Are entries and support materials kept confidential?

    Organisations and individuals who enter the International Travel & Tourism Awards are authorising the International Travel & Tourism Awards and their awards organisers, CL Events, to use the data and materials submitted for the purpose of the Awards. Entrants are discouraged from including confidential information unless it significantly enhances their entry. If confidential information is supplied, it should be clearly marked as “Confidential”. If it is not marked as confidential, then the International Travel & Tourism Awards have the right to publish. Each entry will be stored securely on our website and access to these by judges will be strictly monitored.

    Do you give feedback on entries?

    Due to the number of entries and the confidentiality process we are not able to give individual feedback as to why an entry has not been included on the shortlist.
  • Cost

    Is there an entry fee?

    Yes there is, please see below:
    Entry fee 31 May 2019 £400+VAT
    (Early bird up until 1 April 2019 £300+VAT)
    Multiple entries: Entrants may submit as many tailored entries into as many categories as they wish, but please note the discount is capped at four entries. Duplicated entries will be disqualified and will still be charged.
    Special deals
    £50+VAT off for second entry
    £75+VAT off for third entry
    £100+VAT off for fourth entry
    Best Digital Influencer in the Industry Award: £99+VAT.
    2018 entrants are eligible for a discount of 10%
    Shortlisted entrants will receive 10% off the ticket/table price on the Awards night.

    Do your offer any discounts for WTM exhibitors?

    In the interest of impartiality, there are no discounts to WTM exhibitors.

    What are the payment options?

    Payment online by credit/debit card is preferred. Visa or Mastercard debit and credit cards are accepted, unfortunately American Express is not accepted. Entries that have not been paid by the closing date will not be accepted. Individual payment or one payment covering multiple entries are acceptable and eligible for discounts. If you do not have a credit/debit card, please email us. A payment receipt will automatically be generated when online payment is made.

    Can I pay now and submit later?

    Yes you can.

    How can I get an invoice?

    If you wish to pay by invoice, please email awards@reedexpo.co.uk and this can be organised.

  • Judging

    Who is judging the Awards?

    How have you approached judging diversity?

    Regarding the diversity of judges, we are in communications with our events in Africa and the Middle East for judges from that region. We are also recruiting a judge from Asia and have secured judges from South America, North America, Europe and Oceania.
  • Finalists & Winners

    When will finalists be announced?

    The finalists will be announced on the website and via social media in Summer. All entrants will be notified when the announcement has been made and nominees will receive a congratulatory email and finalist certificate.

    When do I find out if my organisation has won?

    Winners will be announced at the Awards night on 5 November 2019 and afterwards on the website and via social media.

    What publicity do Gold, Silver Highly Commended and shortlisted entries get?

    All winners from the night will receive a logo and stamp that they can use in their email signatures, on their websites or on marketing and PR material. Shortlisted destinations and companies will also be sent an exclusive logo to use as they wish in the lead up to the awaited Awards.

    What are the ticket prices?

    We have priced the tickets to make it affordable for all potential travel industry people to attend. Individual ticket prices start from £385+VAT, with tables of 10 from £2,750+VAT. See ticket price details.
