GLBT History Tour of Denver, USA by GeoTourist and AARP

Geotourist and GLBT Tour of Capitol Hill is a pioneering innovative project that was the first in kind for the AARP and for the state of Colorado.

It served a demographic often poorly served, over 50s and LGBT communities of this age. It raised the profile of Denver being a GLBT city, one that was steeped in GLBT heritage and put it on the map for being a friendly open place for this demographic. It also brought people of all creeds, backgrounds and ages together across the world, firstly in creating and delivering the project but also for those who listened and partook in the tours.

People could take the tours on their terms, any time to suit them without a stringent timetable and also allowing for people to split the tour as they wished, rest between places and rewind and listen to the content if they needed to.

It reflected AARP values, "empowering people to choose how they live as they age." and offered true independent travel. Bringing old stories onto a modern platform that could be accessed by all, this project allows for this history to be preserved and retold for generations to come.
